This is the first in a series of 18-year-old whiskies from Chivas which focuses on wine cask finishes. Here, their impressive blend has spent the final part of its life in Grand Cru Margaux wine casks, which has amplified its berry fruit notes.
Tasting notes from the producer:
Nose: Sweet and rich concentrated fruit notes of luxurious berry compote. Paired with smooth notes of soft apricots, a dusting of cinnamon, sweet liquorice and gently toasted oak.
Palate: Sweet opening with fruity flavours reminiscent of homemade raspberry jam. Following on, are runny golden honey, balanced by soft red toffee apples.
Finish: Long and sweet with a dry finish.
